Cheryl Tomlinson is an educator with over 26 years of experience in teaching and school administration. Her passion is to see students safe, thriving, and succeeding in school.
As a mother, she understands the concerns parents have when sending their children off to school in times when school violence is on the rise. By coming together to start their school year off with prayer, school supplies, resources, and support, Cheryl believes we can make a difference in the lives of students.
After experiencing a deeply emotional response to the nation’s deadliest school shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, which left 19 school children and two teachers dead, our founder was moved to action.
What happened on that fateful day left her and most of the nation paralyzed with sadness. She was heartbroken to hear of yet another school shooting, making this tragedy the 392nd school shooting in the United States since the Columbine shooting in 1999.
On that day, she decided she had to do something. She felt in her heart that back-to-school prayer was an answer. She felt this in her spirit so strongly, and immediately got to work organizing and preparing for the first Back-to-School Prayer event. It was held just three months later, on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
Students from Kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome to attend and receive school supplies and resources.
Two high school seniors will be awarded scholarships for writing winning essays in the:
"Curtis Harry Essay Contest"
Students may use their funds to help defray senior expenses, college application fees or whatever their school-related needs may be.
2022 Winners:
1st Place: Carrington Wash
2nd Place: Madison Washington
